Mike Whipple

Worship & Grow Pastor
Areas of ministry I oversee: Worship and discipleship
Where I am from: Michigan
Family: I have been married to my very best friend, Jess, for the past 8 years. Together we have a 1 year old daughter, Annabel. Rounding out our house is 2 Australian Shepards, Harvey & Piper, and 1 cat, Patches.
Things I like to do in my free time/hobbies: I love to spend time with my family. Jess and I love being outside, going camping, grilling out, going for walks, and exploring Downtown Sioux Falls. I also enjoy going to the movies and concerts, drinking coffee, and watching Michigan Football.
Why ARISE Church: The steps leading up to finding out about Arise Church were such a clear display of God’s sovereignty in all things. Through much prayer and discussion my wife and I knew without a doubt that Arise was the place for us. We fell in love with the amazing city of Sioux Falls, and immediately felt welcomed into this church family. Exciting times ahead!

Jackie Bailey

Family Ministry Director
Areas of ministry I oversee: Family Ministry
Where I am from: Canova, SD
Family: I have a wonderful husband, Jacob, and we have a very spoiled fur baby, Sadie Mae, our little golden retriever!
Things I like to do in my free time/hobbies: I love being active and exploring, reading, crafting, and decorating. Some of my favorite activities are swimming, hiking, softball, and volleyball. My husband and I all around love being outdoors, love food, movies, game nights, and spending time with friends and family
Why ARISE Church: I moved to Sioux Falls in September 2016 after accepting a job and to be closer to my now husband, Jacob. Wedding planning and finishing my masters in ministry leadership led me to follow God’s prompting to step down and enter into a period of rest and refocus. Ready and excited to be back into ministry, God led me to accept the position at Arise!

Megan Niemeyer

Women’s Ministry Coordinator
Areas of ministry I oversee: All things women’s ministry
Where I am from: Sioux Center, Iowa
Family: I enjoy the ups and downs of life with my husband Matt and our awesome kiddos, Karter and Aspen
Things I like to do in my free time/hobbies: Family time! We love doing just about anything together! Movies, library trips, going to the zoo and the occasional Chuck E Cheese date! When I get a few minutes alone I love to read, drink large cups of coffee and occasionally binge a good Netflix series.
Why ARISE Church: The people! We have been around this place for 10+ years and the people have become “our people”! They are there to celebrate, mourn, and pray right along with us! They are not just our church… they are our family! It’s such a blessing!

Brenda Van Beek

Office Administrator
Areas of ministry I oversee: Office Administration
Where I am from: Sioux Center, Iowa
Family: Husband Doug & two sons, Rob (10) and Matthew (7)
Things I like to do in my free time/hobbies: I love to read, spend time with my family, and spend time outdoors…so the ideal day is spent camping with a good book!
Why ARISE Church: Our spiritual growth has happened within the context of small groups, first at our church in Ames, Iowa. So when we moved to Sioux Falls in 2008, we were looking for a new church home that shared that value, and were introduced to this congregation by friends who had also moved here from our church in Iowa. We’ve never looked back!

Craig Pederson

Guest Connections Director

Areas of ministry I oversee: Guest Connection & Assimilation
Where I am from: Sioux Falls, SD
Family: I have an amazing wife Krystal, and two girls (8 & 12) that keep us on our toes!
Things I like to do in my free time/hobbies: When I am with my family I love to relax. A Harry Potter movie or event is always a front runner. Krystal and I love a nice day of camping or hiking/walking with the kids, being close to water when we can. We are always looking for a campfire. I am always looking for a good book, and my alone hobbies include golf, fishing, ice fishing, and making maple syrup (although Krystal joined me in this adventure recently).
Why ARISE Church: We have been at Arise for over 10 years. This is one of the most caring and giving communities we have been a part of. Our community is never afraid to step up, rally around, and help others. We have had the privilege of leading worship and being a part of this community through good times and hard times.
